Burn Out Webinar Pinterest

As Helping Professionals, especially Speech Language Pathologists, we are no stranger to feeling stressed, overwhelmed and exhausted. But did you know that these can lead to a condition called Burn Out?

Most SLPs love their work and are passionate about helping people, young and old, to communicate, grow and thrive to the best of their abilities, but at some point this passion starts to fade. The stress of paperwork, productivity and managing a caseload can start to make it hard to really enjoy the work, continue to learn and grow as a therapist or to even feel supported and respected by your co-workers. As this stress and dispassion builds, it can become chronic and lead to exhaustion, overwhelm, and burn out.

Unfortunately, burn out is rampant in our field as SLPs, partly because of who we are and partly because of the field itself. We, as Helping Professionals, give and give all day, rarely taking tome to nurture and support our own needs. Fortunately, there are ways to decrease and manage burn out, no matter who stressful your workload or how much paperwork you have.

If you have ever felt this way, or perhaps are feeling this way now, there is something you can do to improve your burn out, reduce stress and start to feel balanced in your life and passionate about your career again.

In the free webinar/workshop Burn Out and What to do About it, I’ll share what exactly burn out is, why SLPs seem to be prone to it and what we can do about it, as well as my own story of how I dove head first into burn out and made it back out with a new passion for the SLP field.

I graduated in 2008, ready to take on the world of SLP, improve my patients lives and really “make a difference”. Instead, I felt both under and overworked (depending on the setting), like I wasn’t really helping anyone, unsupported by my fellow SLPs and really, really alone. Eventually, this grew into stress, which grew into dismay and cynicism, and that grew into full on burn out. After just 4 years in the field, I quit, swearing up and down I would never, ever go back into the SLP world again. But after 4 years, I had the urge to get back into the SLP world, learned about burn out and realized I hadn’t been alone at all. There were so many others who were in the midst of burn out, for so many different reasons and across all settings.

To find out how I beat burn out and how you can beat it or prevent it, without having to quit your job or find a new career, join me for the free webinar/workshop on December 11th at 8pm EST (recording provided for all who sign up).
