As an SLP, you are probably used to taking courses, online and in person, that are all about how to utilize a new therapy skill or that teach you how to perform a specific type of therapy practice, such as lessons for “r”, the latest in swallowing assessments or ethical practices in the educational and healthcare settings.
You may have even taken it a step further and taken a few webinars that showcase a brand new approach to therapy, teach you how to switch settings or help you to supervise future therapists and improve your own therapist skill set.
But what if you could take it even further?
What if your Professional Development (CEU and CMH) courses could teach you something beyond how to do therapy and instead, helped you to thrive as a therapist AND as a human. What if they could help you learn how to manage your stress, reduce burn out and find more balance in your overall life?
That would be pretty awesome, right?
Well, it can happen and it is pretty awesome to learn and put into practice. Because, let’s face it, stress is no fun and it is taking a toll on you and your life, both in and out of work.
If you are an SLP who is ready to learn a little more than just new therapy practices, and is ready to start focusing on how you can thrive both in and out of the office (so that you can be an even better therapist when you are there), check out these SLP continuing ed webinars, created by me for you.
I have been a stressed out, burnt out SLP, so much that I quit for nearly 5 years. I dropped my license, let go of my CCC’s and swore I would never work in the field again due to the sheer amount of stress I felt when I was practicing. After a few years, and lots of hours training in yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and overall wellness coaching, I found myself ready to slowly enter back into the field, with a new perspective and outlook on being an SLP and my life.
I felt more connected than ever to my clients, passionate about the work again, and WAY less stress than ever before.
For the first time in my career, nearly 8 years after I graduated, I felt like I was finally able to do work, good work, and show up in both my therapy sessions and in my life outside of work. It wasn’t just due to a change in hours or setting or paperwork, or that my life was just way easier. In fact, it was way more chaotic than ever, I was a new mom with a 3 month old and was starting what felt like a brand new career. This was terms for major stress. But I found that I was able to be fully present for the first time, let stress “go” more than ever before, and finally feel like I was making a difference – something that I never really felt before I left the field. What I learned was that this was no “miracle” or “luck”, it was Stress Management and it was something that I had been learning how to utilize and teach for 5 years, and I finally got to put it into practice in one of the most stressful settings for me.
And it worked.
These webinars put together some of the basics that I learned in my training and research to help you better manage your stress, reduce your burn out and find more balance in your life, so you don’t have to quit being an SLP.
